ASHBY — Chief of Police Derek J. Pepple is pleased to share that the Healey-Driscoll administration has awarded the Ashby Police Department $30,000 in grant funds through the Edward J. Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program, distributed by the Massachusetts Office of Grants & Research.
Ashby Police is one of 171 police departments across the Commonwealth to receive such funding. The grant will assist departments in addressing community safety needs, modernizing and upgrading equipment to the highest possible standard, along with providing expansions to training of officers and expanded use of modern technology.
Ashby Police will use the grant funding in the amount of $30,000 towards the purchase of a new police cruiser.
The new cruiser will be utilized by patrol officers during various shifts to best meet the growing needs of the community.
“The Ashby Police Department is grateful for the administration’s awarding us this important grant funding,” said Chief Pepple. “The addition of the cruiser will assist us in maintaining our current service level and put the growing needs of our community first.”
