Ashby Police to Participate in National Drug Take Back Day on Oct. 25

National Drug Take Back Day is a bi-annual event that provides an opportunity for residents to dispose of their unneeded medications in a safe, simple way. This year’s fall event will occur on Saturday, Oct. 25. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s campaign aims to educate the public on the importance of the safe disposal of prescription drugs, and the dangers of leaving medications in homes.

Ashby Police will be holding a Drug Take Back event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the station,1093 Main St. Participants can bring their unused or unneeded medications to the station. Sharps will not be collected during the event.

Prescription drugs must be disposed of carefully; if they are simply thrown in the trash, they could be retrieved to be sold or abused. If they are flushed down the toilet, they risk contaminating the water supply. By participating in Drug Take Back Day, the public is able to dispose of their medications in a way that protects their communities.
