Ashby Police Department Participating in No Shave November

ASHBY — Chief Fred Alden is pleased to announce that members of the Ashby Police Department will participate in No Shave November for the first time.

Officers who choose to participate will pledge to donate $100 to Home Base in exchange for month-long waiver from the department policy restricting facial hair growth, allowing them to grow goatees and beards that are otherwise prohibited.

Home Base is a Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital program dedicated to helping 9/11 veterans — and their families — who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, have a traumatic brain injury, or other related conditions.

“We are glad to support Home Base and the important work that organization does to on behalf of the men and women who have served in the military,” Chief Alden said. “I am looking forward to our department’s participation in this program, and for the positive impact it will have on veterans.”

Members of the community can join Ashby Police in their fundraising efforts by donating here. The department has established a $1,000 fundraising goal.
