Ashby Police Department Welcomes Two New Members

ASHBY – Chief Fred Alden is pleased to welcome two new members of the Ashby Police Department.

Officers Kyle Dodge and Alexandra Hecker were sworn in by Town Clerk Angela Jack on March 3, surrounded by family and friends.

Officer Dodge was appointed as a full-time Patrol Officer by the Ashby Select Board on Jan. 23. Officer Dodge is a 2018 graduate of the State Police Municipal Academy. He comes to the Department from the Shirley Police Department, where he worked as a Reserve Officer, and then as a full-time Patrol Officer for the past three years.

A native of Fitchburg, Officer Dodge attended courses in Computer Information Systems from Mount Wachusett Community College.

Officer Hecker was appointed as a Reserve Officer by the Ashby Select Board on Feb. 17. Officer Hecker graduated from the Boylston Reserve/Intermittent Police Academy in May 2020.  

Officer Hecker is a graduate of Oakmont Regional High School, and earned an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Mount Wachusett Community College. She completed an internship with the Massachusetts State Police Academy and received dispatcher training with another agency.  

Officer Hecker is also a certified EMT. She will be attending a full-time police academy in the coming months. 

Officers Dodge and Hecker will be assigned to regular duty following 11 weeks of training with their assigned certified Field Training Officers.

“I want to congratulate Officer Dodge and Officer Hecker, and welcome them as they take this significant step in their law enforcement careers,” Chief Alden said. “Each will be bringing unique skills to the Ashby Police Department, which will make us better as an organization.”
