ASHBY —Chief Fred Alden is pleased to announce the Ashby Police Department is once again taking part in the Home Base No Shave fundraiser.
Through the campaign, members of the department may forgo facial hair restrictions during November and donate or raise $100 to support Home Base’s mission to help veterans and their families heal from invisible wounds such as post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injuries.
“By taking part the last two years, this program has been a way to facilitate discussion about the invisible wounds of war, like post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injuries,” Chief Alden said. “These are important issues that merit our attention and awareness, and we are glad to do our part to show support for veterans and their families as they confront these challenges.”
As of Thursday, Nov. 5, the department has already raised half of its $700 goal. People can donate to the Ashby Police Department’s No Shave fundraiser by clicking here.
Last year, 100% of the department took part and, along with the community, collectively raised $1,300 for Home Base.
As part of Home Base No Shave, which was formerly known as No Shave November, more than 130 New England police departments raised over $320,000 last year. Since its inception in 2015, the campaign has raised over $780,000 to fund critical mental health and brain injury care for our nation’s wounded and injured service members and their families.
